The Reprap printer is functional! Our collaborator Dimitrious Airantzis finalised the construction of the 3D printer and produced the first objects. Visit the PhotoBlog for pictures.

Sara, George, Jenn and Taciana meet with the Science Museum's Dana Centre to plan for the Interactive Surfaces event to be held on June 23rd, 2009. And Sara and Jenn's paper titled "Using sensory augmentation to investigate the role of action in cognition" is accepted to the Key Issues in Sensory Augmentation workshop to be held in March.

Sara presented the paper titled "The effect of representation location on interaction in a tangible learning environment" at the Tangible and Embedded Interaction conference in Cambridge, UK. Sara, Taciana and Jenn showed a video demonstration of the table during the demo session.

We've received funding from the EPSRC-funded 'UbiComp Grand Challenge' to run an event called "Interactive Surfaces" at the Science Museum's Dana Centre. The event will include interactive demos, informal talks, live performances and a panel of experts. More info soon.

We attended a workshop at the Open University titled "Supporting Children's Collaboration on Interactive Tabletops" run by Jeff Rick. We talked about the DIY build of our tabletop, the design decisions made and the initial paper prototyping and workshops which helped inform the build.
